This past weekend, I had out of state clients with me, whom are moving here to retire. We are looking at a few different communities in far different locations from one another, but there is a constant; they want an Active Adult Lifestyle built into the community.

The first place we looked was Encanterra, which is located in Queen Creek and for those unfamiliar, to the South and East of Mesa, Chandler & Gilbert. This area is exploding with growth… there are many new home subdivisions and new retail/commercial as well. Encanterra has two phases, one called “Encanterra”, which is for all ages and one called “Trilogy”, which is 55+. The community amenities however are shared by all. The floorplans and homesites are not really designed for a lot of young, growing families so there are mostly adults within this gated & guarded neighborhood.

I have sold homes in many retirement communities around the valley, but none have impressed me more than Encanterra did. There is a price tag to go with it, but if you can afford it, it’s probably worth it. I couldn’t stop thinking about myself and my wife ending up in a place like that down the road when I was receiving the grand tour.

First of all, there is an 18-hole private golf course for members only… the cost is a mere $45,000. Now, that’s one time and there are some incentives to bring that down, plus the ability to recover some of those costs if you choose not to golf so much later on in life.

Golf is only the beginning as there are multiple tennis, pickleball & basketball courts… sand volleyball, an indoor swimming pool set up for volleyball, two outdoor pools, poolside cabanas & lounges, a poolside bar & grill, countless firepits along with outdoor seating, acres and acres of lush green grass and water portions of the golf course, which are beautiful to look at with the mountain views in the distance.

Inside the country club, there is the sports pro shop, a business center with daily FedEx pickups, movie rentals, a barber, full service nail & massage spa, coffee & breakfast bistro, upscale restaurant, wine bar, really large fitness center that also includes classes, computer stations and concierge. The locker rooms are first class with the women’s including a sauna and women only fitness room, while the men’s has a pool table, upstairs poker room and several large TV’s. Also, there is a commercial grade kitchen in a separate room for instructional cooking classes. This room can also be reserved for private parties.

The grounds are perfectly manicured and the homes beautiful. There are a total of 16 different floorplans available with prices and sizes ranging far and wide of course. Literally some of the nicest and largest kitchens I’ve ever seen.

While it may not be a lifestyle choice or affordable for everyone, it was stunning to see what could be in store later in life.
